The only thing i'd criticize is the pace of receiving and upgrading armor/weapon pieces.
Many gameplay features feel very convenient and like an improvement to older JRPG titles. There were a few hiccups in the story where i felt like "this feels like a irrational and rushed character development" but those were very rare and they stood out because the whole story is very well written and i just had so much fun playing it.
